Jon graduated from the London School of Economics in 1997 with a BSc. (Econ.) Honours degree in Government. He began his professional career as a political adviser and researcher.
In 1998 Jon joined Conservative Central Office as a Press Officer, rising through the ranks to become to Senior Media Officer, Foreign Affairs, then Media Manager, running the day to day operations of the CCO Media Unit, and finally Press Secretary to the Chairman of the Conservative Party. Jon left CCO after the 2001 General Election to work as Head of Media for Michael Ancram MP’s Conservative Party leadership campaign. He subsequently worked as a freelance political and media consultant for a variety of national organisations.
Jon joined the Ministry of Defence in early 2002 as Communications Manager in the Directorate of Corporate Communication (Army), creating and implementing proactive public relations campaigns for the British Army. His role was expanded to include responsibility for all aspects of external public relations and research planning and implementation.
In February 2005 Jon was appointed Media Relations Officer and spokesman for the Association of British Insurers, dealing specifically with pensions, long-term savings, life and health insurance issues.
Jon has been a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations since 2003 and was elected to serve on the CIPR’s Council in January 2006. Jon is a former member of the Government Information and Communication Service and was a Councillor of the London Borough of Enfield between 1998-2002. His interests include sport, contemporary fiction, music and politics.
